America’s Premier Black Rodeo Returns to Philadelphia: 8 Seconds Rodeo Comes to the Liacouras Center October 10

PHILADELPHIA, PA – August 2026 – The 8 Seconds Rodeo returns to Philadelphia for one unforgettable night on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Liacouras Center, bringing the nation’s premier celebration of modern Black cowboy culture back to one of America’s most vibrant cultural capitals.

Expected to draw thousands of fans, 8 Seconds Rodeo combines world-class rodeo competition with music, fashion, art, and community, creating an experience unlike anything else in professional sports or live entertainment.

More than a rodeo, 8 Seconds is a cultural movement, celebrating the history, style, and athleticism of Black cowboys and cowgirls while reimagining Western culture for a new generation.

This year’s Philadelphia event features elite Bull Riding, Bareback Riding, Barrel Racing, and Mutton Bustin’, with more than 30 of the country’s top Black rodeo athletes competing for a $60,000 purse.

8 Seconds Rodeo is committed to strengthening the future of the sport through training camps that give athletes access to coaching, resources, and opportunities to sharpen their skills. In Philadelphia, our partnership with the Philadelphia Urban Riding Academy helps preserve the legacy of urban Black horsemanship while creating a safe, welcoming space for young people to learn horsemanship and connect with a proud cultural tradition. Together, these efforts ensure the legacy of Black rodeo is not only celebrated, but carried forward.

The experience begins before the first bull leaves the chute with the Git Down Preshow, where fans can enjoy line dancing, roping lessons, interactive activities, and family-friendly entertainment before taking their seats. Throughout the evening, the arena transforms into a celebration of Black Western culture with music, performances, and an electric atmosphere that reflects the diversity and creativity of today’s West.

“8 Seconds Rodeo is about honoring a legacy that has always existed while creating new opportunities for the next generation,” said Ivan McClellan, founder of 8 Seconds Rodeo. “Philadelphia showed us incredible love last year. We’re excited to return to the Liacouras Center and continue building a tradition that celebrates Black excellence, community, and one of America’s most overlooked cultural stories.”
